We show, herd and skijour with our dogs but they are first and foremost our family pets. Samoyeds are very deeply attached to their owners. They take instantly to children in their kind, loving and gentle way.

 Hi , I am Melissa Quell owner of Heavenly Samoyeds.  I was first attracted to the Samoyed breed at a very young age.  Their loving and devoted dispositions makes them ideal family companions.  They are wonderful with children of all ages from toddlers on up.  My first Samoyed Crystal is 14 years old now, she lives with my parents.  I got my first show Samoyed Mister Magoo 8 years ago.  He is a love and a wonderful endorsement for the breed.  He is very good with children, he takes to them naturally as all of our Samoyeds do.  He finished his AKC championship easily when he stepped foot in the ring for  he first time at 3 years of age. I have based my breeding program on him.

 When I was looking to create my own kennel name I wanted to tie in my passion for snowboarding into the name.  Also since sams love the snow so much. The name Heavenly came up during a trip to Lake Tahoe and the ski resort Heavenly.  Its beautiful views of Lake Tahoe are breathtaking.  Heavenly Samoyeds was founded in 2005.

 I currently own one of Magoo's daughters Sitara (meaning star).  I have two puppies out of the December 2010 litter look for them in the show ring soon!  All three of them share my house with me and my family.  Samoyeds really need to be with their people, they follow us around the house.  We call them "our white shadows" as they are always nearby.

 My success in the show ring has been wonderful but it has never been my focus.  I strive to make the best temperaments first and foremost.  I have only one litter per year.  "The parents are screened for hip dysplasia, in-heritable eye diseases (CERF) and are genetic thyroid and cardiac tested." 

What this means is you will get a happy and very healthy pet that won't break down at a young age.  Magoo at 8 years of age has wonderful dental health.  He has no tartar what so ever.  Dental health is considered to be genetically based and bad teeth can be the first entrance for bacteria into the system.
